Accounts Dashboard – Settings & Setup Guide
Save Settings
For all account settings to be saved properly, you must keep the Accounts Dashboard window open at all times and save the Workspace when closing NinjaTrader.
Important: If the ‘Accounts Dashboard’ window is closed, all values will be lost and must be manually re-entered when the window is recreated. If you accidently close the ‘Accounts Dashboard’ window – close the Workspace without saving it, and reopen the Workspace, to restore all windows, including the ‘Accounts Dashboard’ window that was closed.
Account Fields Overview
Account Size
Represents the starting capital or beginning balance of the account.
- Automatically detected when the account is first loaded.
- Only change this if it was incorrectly detected.
Peak Balance
The highest account value your account has reached during the evaluation or funded period.
Automatically tracked in the Accounts Dashboard whenever the account balance hits a new high.
Used to calculate the ‘Auto Liquidate’ and ‘From Closed’ columns:
Auto Liquidate = Peak Balance – Max Drawdown
From Closed = Net Liquidation – Auto Liquidate
Your account can never fall below the ‘Auto Liquidate’ column.
The ‘From Closed’ column shows how far you are from blowing an account based on closed and open positions.
Initial Setup of the Accounts Dashboard
When loading and using the ‘Accounts Dashboard’ window for the first time:
Set the Peak Balance for each of your prop firm accounts.
- If the account is brand new has not been traded yet, you can skip this step.
- If the account has been traded, retrieve the values from one of three places:
- Rithmic Trader Pro – manually retrieve values from the platform.
- Tradovate Web Platform – automatically retrieve the latest values using instructions below.
- In the NinjaTrader Desktop Platform, Control Center, Connections Menu, disconnect and reconnect to your prop firm. This will force the latest values to be automatically retrieved from the Tradovate Web Platform.
- Prop Firm Website Dashboard – manually retrieve values from the website, specific to your prop firm.
Once ‘Peak Balance’ is entered, it will be automatically tracked and updated going forward by the ‘Accounts Dashboard’ software, which is constantly running within the NinjaTrader Desktop Platform. Proceed to the section below to retrieve these values.
Retrieving Peak Balance from Platforms
Rithmic Trader Pro
- Open Rithmic Trader Pro.
- In the Launch box, click Trader Dashboard.
- In the Trader Dashboard window, right-click in the white area and select Add/Remove Columns.
- Check Auto Liquidate Peak Balance, then click OK.
Transfer values from the ‘Auto Liquidate Peak Balance’ column in Rithmic Trader Pro to the ‘Accounts Dashboard’ account configuration window, ‘Peak Balance’ field.
Tradovate Web Platform
The ‘From Closed’ column is synced with Tradovate values only when an account is initially connected. Otherwise, the ‘From Closed’ value is updated by the ‘Accounts Dashboard’ window for the most accurate tracking. As each account hits a new high for Net Liquidation, the ‘Peak Balance’ is updated saved.
In summary, make sure the ‘From Closed’ column in the ‘Accounts Dashboard’ window matches the ‘DIST DRAWDOWN’ column in Tradovate. If these two values are different, then you will need to manually set ‘Peak Balance’ for each account in the ‘Accounts Dashboard’ from the ‘MAX NET LIQ’ values in Tradovate.
To access the ‘MAX NET LIQ’ values in the Tradovate Web Platform, follow these steps.
- Login to the Tradovate web platform.
- In the Accounts tab, click the gear icon and select Select Columns.
- Drag ‘MAX NET LIQ’ to the Visible column.
- Click Save.
Prop Firm Website Dashboard
In some cases, you may find the ‘Peak Balance’ for each of your accounts in the website dashboard provided by the prop firm.
Field Detection Features
Many prop firm accounts settings are automatically detected based on the account name and net liquidation. We continually update and maintain a .csv file via Google Sheets with the latest values. If any values are incorrect, please reach out to us immediately using the chat button in the button right corner of the website.
The following fields are automatically set if an account name is detected.
- Profit To Goal
- Max Drawdown
- Drawdown Type (Trailing, End Of Day, Static)
- Funded Status
For most prop firms, these fields will fill automatically. If detection fails due to new account formats or naming variations, you can override any field manually by changing the value in the window and clicking OK.
Detection Indicators:
- 🟢 Green dot – Value was automatically detected.
- ⚪ Gray dot – Automatically detected value is overridden.
- No dot – Value was not automatically detected.
If your prop firm and account type isn’t detected at all, please contact us using the chat button in the button right corner of the website. We continuously add new prop firms and account types and this will be reflected immediately in the ‘Accounts Dashboard’ window.
In the meantime, you can manually configure these fields so ‘From Funded’ and ‘From Closed’ columns are tracked accurately.
- Profit To Goal
- Max Drawdown
- Drawdown Type (Trailing, End Of Day, Static)
- Funded Status
Account Settings Definitions
Profit To Goal
- Set by the prop firm.
- Amount of profit needed to pass an evaluation account or earn a payout on a funded account.
- Automatically detected for evaluation accounts.
- For funded accounts, enter manually based on prop firm rules and your trading plan.
Max Drawdown
- Set by the prop firm.
- Represents the maximum loss threshold before the account is closed.
Drawdown Type
Determines how the maximum drawdown is tracked as the account balance changes:
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Trailing | Calculated from your highest account balance (peak). As your account grows, the drawdown threshold rises. Example: Start with $50k and $2.5k drawdown → floor at $47.5k. If you grow to $52k, floor becomes $49.5k. (Most common and strictest type of drawdown) |
| End of Day | Resets daily based on your account balance at the end of the previous trading day. Gives you a “fresh start” each day. This method only updates the ‘Peak Balance’ when a new high balance in the account is reached. For any accounts with Drawdown Type ‘DD’ column of ‘EOD’ or End of Day, the ‘From Closed’ column should be updating in the ‘Accounts Dashboard’ window, at the end of each trading day, specifically when the ‘Qty’ column is showing 0. (More forgiving drawdown) |
| Static | Based on your initial balance only and does not move as your account grows. Example: Start $50k, drawdown $2.5k → floor $47.5k even if account grows to $60k. (Least strict, but uncommon) |
Funded
If checked, indicates the account is funded and eligible for payouts when in profit.
Daily Risk Controls
Daily Goal
- The profit target for the day.
- Once reached, all open positions in NinjaTrader are automatically closed to lock in profits.
- Example: Set to $500 → when up $500, all positions close automatically.
- Can be edited directly in the field.
Daily Loss
- The maximum allowed loss per day.
- When reached, all open positions are automatically closed to prevent further drawdown.
- Example: Set to -250 → when down $250, all positions close automatically.
- Enter as a negative number (e.g.,
-250). - Editable directly in the field.
Tip: Click the checkmark next to the Daily Goal column to activate auto-liquidation for both Daily Goal and Daily Loss.
Once a Follower account reaches either limit, it will no longer be included in trades from the Master account.
