Prop Firm Consistency Rule Calculator

A prop firm consistency rule caps how much of your profit can come from one day. Divide your best day by your total profit (or by the profit target, if your firm measures against the target). If the result is at or under the rule, you are within it. If it is over, you need more total profit: best day divided by the rule percentage. Paste your daily P&L below, or pick your firm, and the calculator does the rest.
Calculated in your browser; nothing is sent or saved. Firm rules change: the firm's current rules decide the percentage, the base and the period. Rules on this page were read on each firm's own site on 20 October 2026.
How the consistency rule is calculated
Consistency % = best single day divided by the profit it is measured against, times 100.
Example: you have made $3,000 in total and your best day was $1,500. Under a 40% rule measured on total profit, your best day is 50% of your profit, so you are over. The total you need is $1,500 divided by 0.40 = $3,750. That is $750 more, and it has to come from days smaller than $1,500. If tomorrow beats $1,500, it becomes your new best day and the target moves again.
Turned around: once you are within the rule, the largest day you can add without breaking it is the rule times your total, divided by one minus the rule. At 40% with $3,000 made, that is $2,000. The calculator shows this as “largest day you can add next”.
Total profit or profit target: what your firm measures against
Most firms measure your best day against total profit for the period: the whole evaluation, or the profit since your last payout. A few measure it against the profit target: Topstep’s Trading Combine and FundedNext’s Legacy and Flex challenges. The difference matters after a losing day. Against total profit, a loss lowers your total, so your best day becomes a bigger share of it. Against the target, a loss does not change the percentage, but it still delays you.
Firms also differ on the edge case. Apex and Take Profit Trader say your best day must be under 50%, and Alpha Futures counts exactly 40% as over on qualified accounts. The calculator treats exactly the limit as within, so leave yourself a few dollars.

Where a firm’s own pages disagree with each other, the row says so. TradeDay names both the profit target and total P&L as its base in the same article, and My Funded Futures defines its rule on total profit but works its example from the target. If your result is close to the line, ask the firm which one applies to your account.
What happens if you are over
At the ten firms in the table, going over the consistency rule does not close the account. It does one of three things:
- Your profit target rises to your best day divided by the rule (Topstep Combine, Take Profit Trader Test, TradeDay evaluations, FundedNext challenges).
- You cannot pass yet and keep trading until smaller days bring the share down (Tradeify Select, LucidFlex, My Funded Futures and Alpha Futures evaluations).
- No payout yet until profit since your last payout catches up (Apex Performance Accounts, Bulenox Master, LucidPro, Tradeify Growth and Lightning, Alpha Futures qualified accounts).
The rules that do close accounts are the trailing drawdown and, at some firms, the daily loss limit. See EOD vs intraday trailing drawdown for those, with a calculator for your floor.
Consistency across several accounts
Many traders run the same plan on several evaluations or funded accounts at once. When the same trades are copied to accounts of the same size, every account has the same best day and the same total, so one check covers all of them. Mix account sizes, or firms with different percentages, and each one needs its own check.
Consistency rule FAQ
What is a 40% consistency rule?
Your best single day can be at most 40% of the profit it is measured against, usually your total profit for the period. With $5,000 total profit, no single day can be above $2,000. Tradeify Select evaluations, LucidFlex evaluations, Bulenox Master, Alpha Futures qualified accounts and Topstep's Consistency payout path use 40% (checked on each firm's site, October 2026).
How do I calculate my consistency percentage?
Divide your best day by your total profit and multiply by 100. A $1,200 best day with $3,000 total profit is 40%. If your firm measures against the profit target instead, divide by the target.
How much more profit do I need to pass the consistency rule?
Total profit needed = best day divided by the rule percentage. With a 40% rule and a $1,500 best day you need $3,750 in total. Subtract what you have made; the rest has to come from days smaller than your best day.
Does the consistency rule apply to funded accounts?
It depends on the firm and the program. Apex applies 50% only to funded Performance Accounts; Topstep applies 55% in the Trading Combine and 40% only on its funded Consistency payout path; Tradeify Select applies 40% to the evaluation only. The table on this page lists each program.
Does a losing day hurt my consistency?
When the rule is measured against total profit, yes: a loss lowers your total, so your best day becomes a bigger share of it. When it is measured against the profit target, a loss does not change the percentage, but it still delays you.
Does breaking the consistency rule fail the account?
At the ten firms we checked in October 2026, no. Going over raises your profit target, stops you passing, or holds a payout until smaller days catch up. The drawdown and daily loss rules are the ones that close accounts.
