NinjaTrader: “The IB you are trying to connect is not authorized”

The wording sounds severe and points somewhere unhelpful. IB here refers to the introducing broker relationship behind your account, and the message reads as though your account has been refused.

In practice it is usually transient, and a full restart of NinjaTrader clears it.

Try this first

Close NinjaTrader completely, including checking that it has actually exited rather than minimised to the system tray, then reopen it and connect. That resolves the large majority of cases.

If it persists past a restart

Then the message may be describing something real, and there are three things worth checking in order.

Account status at your firm. An evaluation that has ended, an account suspended for a rule breach, or a funded account not yet activated can present this way rather than as a clean rejection.

The System entry. Pointing a live account at an evaluation route, or the reverse, produces authorisation-shaped errors because the account genuinely is not authorised on the system you asked for. Check yours against the connection guides.

Outstanding agreements. An unsigned market data or account agreement in the provider portal can block authorisation. Log into RTrader Pro directly and clear anything waiting there.

Knowing which of the three it is

The awkward part of this error is that account status, a wrong System entry and a temporarily locked login all present the same way. Unlimited Prop Firm Connections names those cases separately, including authorisation problems at the firm and logins the broker has locked, so you are not restarting the platform once per hypothesis. What not to do

Do not start deleting and rebuilding connections as a first move. This error does not indicate a corrupt connection definition, and rebuilding one is how people lose a working configuration and end up with a stored-password problem on top of the original fault.

Restart first. Check the account second. Touch the configuration last.
