Tradovate Connection Guide for NinjaTrader | Prop Firms

This article walks through how to connect your Tradovate Prop firm account to NinjaTrader.

Important: Some prop firms may require you to sign agreement documents. Be sure to review their instructions carefully before proceeding.

Step 1: Download the NinjaTrader Desktop Platform

Please make sure you have the latest version of NinjaTrader Desktop installed on your computer through your NinjaTrader Account Dashboard.

Step 2-A: Connect to your Tradovate Account (No NinjaTrader Account)

If you do not already have a NinjaTrader Account follow the instructions below. If you do, please skip to Step 2-B.

After installing and launching NinjaTrader Desktop, a screen will appear where you can enter your Tradovate Username and Password. Your prop firm should provide these login details.

If you’re unsure of your Tradovate Username and Password, please reach out to your prop firm service for assistance.

Once you log in successfully, you will be automatically connected to your Tradovate Evaluation Service account, and your evaluation account(s) will appear in the Control Center > Accounts tab.

Step 2-B: Connect to your Tradovate Account (With NinjaTrader Account)

If you already have a NinjaTrader Account and are looking to connect your Tradovate account, follow the instructions below.

This section explains how to connect to a Tradovate Evaluation Account with “Multi-Provider” enabled, allowing you to connect to multiple account types, such as a NinjaTrader Brokerage account and an Evaluation Account, at the same time.

“Multi-Provider” is not enabled by default in new installations of NinjaTrader Desktop and is unnecessary if you are only connecting to a Tradovate Evaluation Service account.

1. On the initial login screen, log into NinjaTrader Desktop using your NinjaTrader Account Dashboard Username and Password (the same credentials used to download NinjaTrader Desktop), instead of your Tradovate prop firm credentials.
2. Enable “Multi-Provider” in the NinjaTrader Control Center by navigating to Tools > Options.
3. Under General, check the box next to ‘Multi-provider’, then hit OK.

After enabling this setting, restart your platform. The “Configure” button will then appear in the Control Center > Connections dropdown, allowing you to create your prop firm account.

After restarting the platform, select configure in the NinjaTrader Control Center Connections tab.
