NinjaTrader: “Rejected at RMS”

RMS is the risk management system, and it sits on the broker side rather than inside NinjaTrader. A rejection from it means your order was understood, passed along, and refused by your broker’s risk layer.
Nothing in NinjaTrader will fix it, because nothing in NinjaTrader caused it.
The usual cause
The account has Liquidating Only enabled. In that state the account may close existing positions and may not open new ones, so exits work and entries are rejected, which is a confusing pattern to hit mid-session.
To check it, open RTrader Pro, right-click the account, and look for Enable Liquidating Only (Trader). If it is ticked, that is your answer.
Why it would be on
Sometimes it is set deliberately and forgotten. More often it has been applied automatically because the account touched a risk limit: a drawdown threshold, a daily loss limit, or a position size cap.
If it was applied automatically, switching it off may not be within your gift, and it may switch itself back on. That is a conversation with your prop firm rather than a setting to fight with.
The related rejections
Two other messages come from the same layer and mean roughly the same thing. One says orders can be placed by administrators only, which generally indicates a drawdown limit has been reached and liquidation has been triggered. Another reports the account is set to liquidation, which on some platforms requires an account reset performed by the firm.
All three are the risk system telling you the account is restricted. The useful next step is the same in each case: check the account status in your firm’s dashboard before you spend time on the platform.
What it is not
It is not a connection fault, a credentials problem or a data subscription issue. If your other accounts are trading normally through the same platform, that confirms it.
