Connecting Lucid Trading to NinjaTrader with Rithmic Credentials

Lucid Trading runs two data providers, and which one your account uses is decided at checkout rather than afterwards. Some products carry Rithmic in the name — “LucidFlex 25K Rithmic” is one of them — and others carry TDV/NT, Lucid’s shorthand for its Tradovate and NinjaTrader products. The credentials that appear in your dashboard follow the product you bought, so the first thing to establish is which of the two you are holding. Go by the product title on your receipt or dashboard rather than the web address you bought from: several of Lucid’s Rithmic products sit on URLs that never mention Rithmic, and the families are not paired size for size, so there is no reliable “matching” link to hunt for.
That distinction matters here because Lucid organises its own supported-platforms article by data provider rather than by platform. NinjaTrader appears on Lucid’s CQG list, alongside Tradovate and TradingView, and is reached with Tradovate credentials. Lucid’s Rithmic list names MotiveWave and Quantower — both tagged “(Lucid Partner)” in that article — along with Tradesea, Sierra Chart, Jigsaw, Bookmap, ATAS, R|Trader Pro and MultiCharts. Lucid’s setup guide carries the same split as two parallel first steps, one headed for the Rithmic data feed and one headed “CQG Data Feed — Tradovate / NinjaTrader”. If NinjaTrader is the platform you want to trade on, that CQG route is the one Lucid writes up, and we have a separate walkthrough for it: connecting Lucid Trading to NinjaTrader via Tradovate.
NinjaTrader describes the same two paths from its own side. Its prop connection guide says NinjaTrader connects to most prop firm accounts through a Rithmic data feed, and its feed table sends Rithmic credentials to the Rithmic connection in NinjaTrader Desktop, while Tradovate-based prop credentials are used through NinjaTrader Web, Mobile or other supported platforms. Which of those you are working with follows from the credentials Lucid issued you.
This page is for the reader who already holds Lucid Rithmic credentials — you bought a Rithmic product, your username begins LT-, and you want to know what those credentials are, where they come from, and how NinjaTrader Desktop’s Rithmic connection is filled in. What you may use on your own account is governed by Lucid’s platform list and Lucid’s terms, so confirm it with them before you build a workflow around anything below.
Most of the trouble people hit is not the connection dialog at all. It is timing, agreements and credential location: Rithmic accounts are activated on the Sunday prior to 5PM CST, the Rithmic trading agreements have to be signed before anything logs on, and the username and password live in the Lucid dashboard rather than in any email you can search for later.
What Lucid issues and what it documents
- Rithmic products — a Rithmic user ID and password shown in your Lucid dashboard, with usernames that begin LT-. Lucid’s published connection parameters are System “LucidTrading” and Gateway “Chicago Area”, with Sierra Chart users pointed at the server string “LucidTrading-Chicago Area-Non-Aggregated”.
- TDV/NT products — Tradovate credentials instead. Lucid’s setup guide says you must sign into Tradovate first even if you plan on trading on NinjaTrader or TradingView, which is the single most common stumble on that side. That instruction sits on a page Lucid has not updated since late 2025, so check the current order with them.
- The platform list itself — Lucid’s supported-platforms article opens “All listed platforms work with all Lucid account types”, then splits them: CQG for NinjaTrader, Tradovate and TradingView; Rithmic for the nine platforms named above. NinjaTrader is not on the Rithmic list.
- Evaluations and funded accounts are simulated — Lucid’s help centre describes the evaluation as a simulated account with a profit target, and the funded stage as a simulated account where traders build capital to earn payouts. Lucid publishes no feed or platform detail for the funded stage at all, and its only stage-specific credential sentence refers to evaluation phases, so do not assume your evaluation credentials simply carry over — ask.
- LucidLive — the real live stage, where both feeds appear: Lucid’s allowed-trading-times article gives different daily cutoffs for Tradovate Live and Rithmic Live accounts. Entry is at the risk team’s discretion against several conditions, and Lucid states that all simulated prop accounts are closed when a trader is moved live.
What you need before you start
- A Lucid Rithmic account and your dashboard login. Lucid sends a one-time password each time you sign in, so have your email to hand.
- Your Rithmic user ID and password, read from the dashboard: click Show Credentials at the top right of the Account Summary page.
- Signed Rithmic trading agreements. On Windows these appear inside R|Trader Pro on first login; on Mac, Lucid directs you to a Lucid-specific agreement page on signup.rithmic.com. Sign as a Non-Professional — Lucid notes that professional status costs $112 per exchange per month across CME, CBOT, NYMEX and COMEX.
- A current NinjaTrader Desktop installation, kept updated. The 8.1.8 builds are current at the time of writing.
- Patience with the calendar. Accounts on Rithmic are activated on the Sunday prior to 5PM CST, and Lucid also warns about weekend maintenance, so a brand-new login bought midweek may simply not work until then.
Connecting Lucid Trading to NinjaTrader
1. Collect your credentials from the Lucid dashboard
Sign into the Lucid Trader Dashboard, open the Account Summary page and click Show Credentials at the top right. Copy the user ID and password exactly; the ID begins with LT-, and Lucid’s own pages write that prefix inconsistently, so trust what the dashboard shows you rather than any example. Do this first, because the next step needs them.
2. Sign the Rithmic trading agreements as a Non-Professional
Nothing connects until the agreements are signed. On Windows, log into R|Trader Pro with those credentials and work through the agreement prompts. On Mac, use the Lucid agreement page on Rithmic’s own domain. Choose Non-Professional unless you genuinely are a professional, because the exchange fees differ sharply. Once the agreements are signed, R|Trader Pro does not need to stay running.
3. Enable Multi-Provider Mode
NinjaTrader publishes that Multi-Provider Mode must be enabled in NinjaTrader Desktop before it will connect to more than one provider at a time. Rithmic prop firms’ own NinjaTrader guides make this a required step even when you connect a single Rithmic account. Open Tools > Settings > General, tick Multi-Provider, and restart NinjaTrader — it does not take effect until the restart.
4. Add the Rithmic connection
Go to Connections > Configure and select Rithmic for NinjaTrader Brokerage from the list of available connections, then give the connection a name you will recognise later.
5. Set the System and Gateway, then connect
The Rithmic connection asks for a System, and each System entry already includes its region. This is the field people get wrong. If a LucidTrading system is offered, that is the pairing Lucid itself publishes, with the gateway set to Chicago Area — and Lucid explicitly warns against selecting a default Rithmic server instead. Stock NinjaTrader does not list a LucidTrading system, and Lucid tells traders not to pick a default Rithmic server in its place, so do not fall back to the stock “Rithmic Paper Trading” or “Rithmic 01” entries for LT- credentials. Ask Lucid first. Enter your LT- username and password, save, then connect. One thing to know before you plan around it: NinjaTrader publishes that only one Rithmic-based connection can be active at a time, so moving between Rithmic-based accounts means disconnecting and reconnecting.
Questions we get
Lucid’s platform list does not show NinjaTrader under Rithmic. What does that mean for my account?
We are not going to tell you how to read another company’s list. What we can say is what it says: NinjaTrader appears under CQG, reached with Tradovate credentials, and not under Rithmic. Ask Lucid what you are permitted to use on your account, and if NinjaTrader is the goal, the route they document is the CQG one.
My credentials are rejected and I only bought the account yesterday
Check the calendar before you check anything else. Lucid activates Rithmic accounts on the Sunday prior to 5PM CST, so an account bought midweek can be perfectly valid and still not log on yet. If the timing is right and it still fails, work through the usual causes in our guide to a Rithmic logon failure in NinjaTrader — unsigned agreements and the wrong System are the two we see most.
I am not sure which System applies to my stage
Your dashboard tells you which account you are holding, and Lucid support can confirm it. If you would rather not think about it each time, our Unlimited Prop Firm Connections add-on tells you which System entry your firm uses, or adds that entry to NinjaTrader’s System list when it is missing.
Can I run a copy trader on a Lucid Rithmic account?
That is a question for Lucid’s own terms, and they address it in more than one place. Their wording is that traders are fully responsible for any software errors, malfunctions or unintended outcomes — as-is language that appears on three separate pages of their site. Read it there and confirm with Lucid what you may run on your account before you set anything up.
What about my old LucidX account?
That line has wound down — the LucidX products now show as out of stock or have gone entirely. If you are following an older guide that places Lucid on ProjectX, it is out of date.
