How to Connect NextPropTrader to NinjaTrader 8 (Rithmic)

NextPropTrader issues each account its own set of trading credentials, and they are not the details you use to sign in to the website. Inside the dashboard, under the account selector, an Account Information panel shows a Data Feed label and then three values under Login Credentials — Username, Password and Server, each with its own Copy button. The firm’s own instruction alongside them is to use those credentials to log into your data feed’s platform. If your Data Feed reads Rithmic, those three values are what a Rithmic-capable platform such as NinjaTrader Desktop authenticates with.

The first thing to check is the feed itself, because NextPropTrader fixes it at purchase rather than afterwards. Step one of its three-step checkout is “Choose your data feed”, offering Rithmic (badged as recommended) and DXFeed, before you enter personal details or pay. If you clicked through quickly and ended up on DXFeed, nothing below applies to that account — those credentials belong to a different network, and no amount of fiddling with a Rithmic connection will make them work.

The second is a vocabulary mismatch that catches people out. NextPropTrader labels its third value Server. NinjaTrader’s Rithmic connection dialog has no Server box; it asks you to choose a System — a named gateway — from a dropdown. So the Server string on your dashboard is something you match against a list, not text you paste into a field of the same name. NextPropTrader publishes no Rithmic gateway, connection point or hostname anywhere on its public site, which means the value shown in your own panel is the only authority on which entry your account belongs to.

One more thing worth stating plainly. NextPropTrader does not mention NinjaTrader anywhere in its public content — not as supported, not as prohibited. Its published position is capability-based rather than platform-by-platform: it says all platforms that support a Rithmic or DXFeed connection are supported, and it adds that platform availability and order routing depend on your account credentials and your platform license. Before you set anything up, confirm with NextPropTrader what you are permitted to run on your account.

What NextPropTrader actually issues

  • A choice of two data feeds — Rithmic or DXFeed, selected at checkout before payment and fixed for that account. We verified the Rithmic option live: it is a working selection, not a disabled placeholder.
  • Three credential values per account — Username, Password and Server, in the dashboard’s Account Information panel, alongside your account size, start and expiry dates, days remaining and trading specifications.
  • No named platform list — the firm’s public FAQ says all platforms that support a Rithmic or DXFeed connection are supported, and names none individually.
  • A platform showcase row at checkout — Rithmic, ATAS, Quantower, Bookmap and MotiveWave. Treat it as decoration, not a compatibility matrix: the same four platforms are shown whichever feed you pick.
  • Market data — the firm states every account includes Non-Professional CME market data at no extra cost.
  • No public setup documentation — the dashboard’s Platform Guide sits behind the login, so there is nothing published publicly to follow or to check yourself against.

What you need before you start

  • A NextPropTrader account whose Data Feed reads Rithmic, not DXFeed.
  • The Username, Password and Server from that specific account’s panel. Multiple accounts are allowed, each with its own set, so copy from the account you actually intend to trade.
  • An active account period. Accounts carry an expiry date and days remaining, and an ended period shows as “The account period has ended”.
  • NinjaTrader Desktop installed and already opened once.
  • If you are setting up a funded account: the signed funded agreement and the funded fee behind you. That stage requires a digital signature, your printed legal name matching your identification document, your address and an uploaded ID, and the credentials only exist once it is done.

Connecting NextPropTrader to NinjaTrader

1. Copy the credentials from the right account

Open the dashboard, pick the account in the selector, and read the Account Information panel. Confirm the Data Feed says Rithmic, then use the Copy buttons for Username, Password and Server rather than retyping — a mistyped character here produces the same unhelpful rejection as a genuinely wrong setting. Your site login, with its optional two-factor code, is a separate credential set and plays no part in this.

2. Turn on Multi-Provider

In NinjaTrader, go to Tools > Settings > General, tick Multi-Provider, and restart the platform so the change takes effect. If Connections > Configure is not where you expect it in the Control Center afterwards, our guide to a missing Configure entry covers the usual causes.

3. Add a Rithmic connection

In the Control Center, choose Connections > Configure, then add the stock Rithmic for NinjaTrader Brokerage entry from the Available list. There is no entry named after NextPropTrader, and you do not need one: the stock Rithmic entry is the one you fill in, and the account you reach is determined by the credentials you type into it.

4. Match the System to your Server value

Enter the Username and Password, then pick the System. As a general Rithmic convention, prop evaluation and simulated funded accounts sit on Rithmic Paper Trading (Chicago), and the Rithmic 01 entries are for live brokerage accounts. NinjaTrader has no Aurora entry. NextPropTrader publishes neither name and gives no guidance of its own on this, so treat that only as the shape of the choice rather than as instructions from the firm: read the Server value in your own panel and select the System entry it points to. Pairing an evaluation account with a live system, or the reverse, gives you a login rejection that explains nothing, so it is worth a moment’s care.

5. Connect and check the account appears

Connect from the Control Center and look at the Accounts tab. The account should appear with its balance, and your instruments should start ticking. NextPropTrader states that Non-Professional CME market data is included on every account at no extra cost, and it describes no separate entitlement or market-data step of its own on its public site. If the platform does put an agreement or data-permission prompt in front of you, read it and complete it as it asks, and take anything you are unsure about back to NextPropTrader.

Questions we get

My dashboard says DXFeed — can I convert it?

Nothing the firm publishes describes changing a feed after purchase; the choice is made at checkout. Ask NextPropTrader support before buying anything else.

The login is rejected with no useful message

Work through it in order: right account selected in the dashboard, credentials copied rather than typed, System matched to the Server value, and the account period still running. Our Rithmic logon failed guide walks the remaining causes.

It connected last week and will not now

Check the expiry date and days remaining first. Evaluation accounts run on a period with paid extensions and a reset, and an ended period is a plausible reason a connection that worked suddenly stops authenticating.

I passed — do my credentials carry over?

No. A funded account is a new account with its own Account Information panel and its own Username, Password and Server, issued after the signed agreement and fee. Re-read the panel rather than reusing the evaluation values, and check the Data Feed label on the new account too, since the firm does not state whether your original feed choice carries across.

Can I run several NextPropTrader accounts at once?

The firm allows multiple accounts, and each one carries its own Username, Password and Server in its own panel, so copy from the account you mean to trade. NinjaTrader Desktop runs one Rithmic connection at a time, although one connection can carry several accounts under the same login. Our Unlimited Prop Firm Connections add-on lets you connect and manage multiple Rithmic accounts at the same time, from one window, with per-connection monitoring, and it tells you which System entry your firm uses, or adds that entry to NinjaTrader’s System list when it is missing.

Anything else to watch on the trading side?

All positions must be closed by 3:15 PM CST, with trading resuming at 5:00 PM CST, on evaluation and funded accounts alike. Automated strategies are allowed under the firm’s own FAQ, subject to its restrictions — read those rules yourself rather than relying on any third-party summary of them.
