Connecting Phidias Propfirm to NinjaTrader 8: which credentials do what

Phidias Propfirm — the trading name of Phidias Propfirm LTD, registered in Gibraltar — asks you to pick a platform at checkout rather than handing every trader the same feed. The configurator offers three: Rithmic, Tradovate and DeepCharts, on its Express to Live, Fundamental and Premium accounts, while its 10K Challenge page lists only dxFeed or Rithmic. The choice you make there decides which credentials land in your inbox, which software they open, and which commission schedule your fills are priced under.

If you picked Rithmic, your username and password arrive in the payment confirmation email rather than in the member dashboard. The firm’s own setup PDF walks you into R|Trader Pro, with System set to “Rithmic Paper Trading” and Gateway set to “Chicago Area”, and asks you to read the Rithmic LLC Market Data Subscription Agreement and then answer Non-Professional on the self-certification. ATAS documents the same server name for Phidias accounts, so that is the system an evaluation sits on.

If you picked Tradovate, the credentials live inside the Phidias dashboard, in a block labelled NinjaTrader Account — username on show, password behind a reveal icon. Those are Tradovate credentials, and they are the set NinjaTrader 8 takes. They are not a Rithmic credential source, which is where the confusion usually starts: traders open the dashboard, find that block, and try it against a Rithmic login, or do the reverse, and get a rejection that explains nothing.

Everything Phidias publishes about NinjaTrader sits on the Tradovate side of that split. Its configurator lists the Rithmic-compatible platforms as Quantower, MotiveWave, ATAS, Sierra Chart, Bookmap and Jigsaw, and lists NinjaTrader under Tradovate. Its rules price NinjaTrader under the “Tradovate / NinjaTrader” broker path, which the firm describes as the same broker path under either name. Its own NinjaTrader walkthrough uses Tradovate credentials from start to finish. Before you buy, confirm with Phidias which platform your account will be issued on and what you are permitted to run against it.

What Phidias issues and supports

  • A platform choice at checkout — Rithmic, Tradovate or DeepCharts on Express to Live, Fundamental and Premium accounts. The 10K Challenge page lists only dxFeed or Rithmic, so confirm the feed before you buy it. Tradovate is the default preselection, so it is easy to buy one path while intending the other.
  • Rithmic credentials by email — delivered in the payment confirmation email and entered into R|Trader Pro, not looked up in the dashboard.
  • Tradovate credentials in the dashboard — the block labelled “NinjaTrader Account”. The same pair works across NinjaTrader Desktop, TradingView and Tradovate web.
  • Compatible-platform lists per feed — Rithmic shows Quantower, MotiveWave, ATAS, Sierra Chart, Bookmap and Jigsaw; Tradovate shows Tradovate, TradingView and NinjaTrader.
  • Data feeds and clearing — Rithmic for CME products, dxFeed for EUREX and DeepCharts, Tradovate’s own feed on that path; live accounts clear through Dorman Trading.
  • Data-fee treatment that follows the path — the firm says it charges no data-feed fees on Rithmic and dxFeed, while on a LIVE account through the NinjaTrader / Tradovate broker the CME fees are debited from the trading account and other exchanges are optional at $156 per month each.
  • Published connection documents — setup PDFs for Rithmic, Quantower, Bookmap and Sierra Chart, plus an ATAS partner page. The NinjaTrader walkthrough lives in the firm’s education section and is Tradovate throughout.

What you need before you start

  • A current NinjaTrader Desktop build. Phidias calls an outdated build the single most common reason a freshly created account fails to connect, so update before you troubleshoot anything else.
  • Certainty about which path you bought. Payment confirmation email for Rithmic; dashboard block for Tradovate. If both look plausible, ask support rather than guessing.
  • The agreements signed for your path. On the Tradovate route that means three items inside Tradovate web. On Rithmic it means the market data agreement and the Non-Professional self-certification, both of which appear on your first R|Trader Pro login.
  • R|Trader Pro installed, if you are on Rithmic. The funded payout process expects a CSV exported from it, so it stays part of the workflow even if you chart somewhere else.
  • Market depth, if you want a DOM on Rithmic. Phidias sells depth as a paid add-on from the member area’s Addons tab; top-of-book CME is included during the evaluation, Level 2 is not. Treasury traders also have to contact the firm to have CBOT market data activated.

Connecting Phidias Propfirm to NinjaTrader

1. Work out which credentials you are holding

Open the payment confirmation email and the dashboard side by side. A Rithmic username and password in the email means you bought the Rithmic path. The dashboard’s “NinjaTrader Account” block is a Tradovate pair, and that is the one NinjaTrader 8 expects. Matching the right credentials to the right adapter is most of this job, and a rejected login rarely tells you which set was wrong.

2. Tick Multi-Provider and restart NinjaTrader

In the Control Center go to Tools > Settings > General, tick Multi-Provider, then close NinjaTrader completely and start it again — the setting only takes effect after a restart. If Connections > Configure is still missing from the menu when you come back, work through our Configure-missing walkthrough.

3. Add the Available entry named “NinjaTrader”

Sign the agreements first. From the dashboard, open Tradovate Web and complete the Market Data Subscriber Certification (confirm Nonprofessional), the Uniform Subscriber Agreement (tick it, then type your name exactly as displayed above the field — capitalisation, spacing and accents all matter) and the Tradovate License Agreement. Then in Connections > Configure, choose the Available entry named NinjaTrader rather than the one named Tradovate; the NinjaTrader entry is the one that carries prop accounts. Enter the username and password from the dashboard block, set Account Type to Simulation, and give the connection a name you will recognise later. Our fuller Phidias Tradovate walkthrough covers the agreement screens click by click.

4. Check the connection is real, not just green

Connect from the Connections menu and watch the indicator. A green dot plus an Accounts tab showing the expected display name, cash value and net liquidation is a genuine connection, and the firm says you should see the profile NinjaTrader Prop Simulation on screen. A yellow dot means partially authenticated — disconnect and reconnect from the Connections menu rather than restarting everything. Then load a chart on an instrument you actually trade and watch it tick before you place anything.

If you chose Rithmic at checkout

The Rithmic path runs through R|Trader Pro, not NinjaTrader. Install R|Trader Pro from the link in the firm’s Rithmic help-centre article, log in with the emailed credentials, set System to “Rithmic Paper Trading” and Gateway to “Chicago Area”, accept the market data agreement and self-certify Non-Professional; picking Professional puts you on a different fee structure. Phidias’s Terms of Use state that NinjaTrader and Tradovate are not compatible with its Rithmic data feed, and there is no Phidias-named entry in NinjaTrader’s Configure window. If you want NinjaTrader specifically, ask Phidias before you buy which platform your account will be issued on and what you are permitted to run against it.

Questions we get about Phidias and NinjaTrader

My credentials are rejected. What now?

Check the obvious three in order: the NinjaTrader 8 build is current, you are using the credential set that belongs to the adapter you are in, and the agreements for your path are signed. On the Tradovate route the firm says unsigned agreements are almost always the cause, and an outdated build is the next thing it points at.

I passed my challenge. Do my credentials change?

Expect a new set. Phidias verifies the pass over one to two business days, sends a contract for electronic signature, and asks for ID and a proof of address under three months old before you pay the activation fee — all inside a 48-hour window, or the account is forfeited. Once the fee clears, the firm sets up the funded account, so reconnect with whatever it issues rather than the old login.

Which Rithmic system do funded accounts use?

Phidias does not publish one. Only “Rithmic Paper Trading” with the Chicago gateway is documented, and that is for the evaluation stage. We would rather say that plainly than guess a live system name for you — ask support when your funded credentials arrive, and check the names they give you against what you type in.

Running more than one account in one window

If you also hold Rithmic accounts at other firms, note that NinjaTrader Desktop runs one Rithmic connection at a time. Our Unlimited Prop Firm Connections add-on lets you connect and manage multiple Rithmic accounts at the same time from one window, with per-connection monitoring, and it tells you which System entry your firm uses, or adds that entry to NinjaTrader’s System list when it is missing. Whether you may trade several accounts alongside each other is governed by each firm’s own terms, so check with them first.

Affordable Indicators, Inc. is not affiliated with or endorsed by Rithmic, NinjaTrader, or any prop firm or broker named here; your firm’s and broker’s own terms govern how you may use your account, so check with them first.

Trade with the right tools. Our NinjaTrader trade copier mirrors your trades across every prop-firm account, and our chart trader tools put one-click order management on your chart — lifetime licenses, free updates, live chat support.
