Connect Earn2Trade to NinjaTrader 8 over Tradovate

Earn2Trade provides NinjaTrader Desktop (NinjaTrader 8) over Tradovate, and that is now the only route that comes with a free NinjaTrader license from the firm. Legacy NinjaTrader-Rithmic accounts were honored only until 30 June 2026, so an older Earn2Trade guide that had you configuring a Rithmic connection no longer describes what new subscriptions get. Earn2Trade’s own FAQ says Rithmic still works with NinjaTrader on a new subscription only if you have your own NinjaTrader license with a Rithmic integration. What catches people out here is not the NinjaTrader end at all. It is that the Tradovate credentials Earn2Trade issues do nothing until you have logged into the Tradovate portal yourself and accepted the exchange agreements — and that credentials issued outside market hours may not work until the market reopens.
What you need before you start
- An Earn2Trade subscription with the NinjaTrader-Tradovate option chosen at checkout. Earn2Trade tells new subscribers to select that option during checkout if they want NinjaTrader. If you did not, ask them before you go any further.
- The email carrying your Tradovate data credentials. Earn2Trade’s help centre calls it Tradovate Data Credentials in one article and Tradovate Data Credentials Created in another, so search your inbox for Tradovate rather than for an exact subject line. The username and password inside it are the ones NinjaTrader wants — not your Earn2Trade website login.
- The exchange agreements accepted in the Tradovate trader portal, with non-professional status selected unless you qualify as professional and are willing to pay the additional data fees.
- NinjaTrader Desktop on Windows, downloaded from the NinjaTrader Account Dashboard.
You do not need to buy NinjaTrader. Earn2Trade lists it as free during the Trader Career Path and Gauntlet Mini, alongside Finamark, R|Trader and R|Trader Pro, Tradovate, TradingView and BlackArrow One.
Connecting Earn2Trade to NinjaTrader
Choose the NinjaTrader-Tradovate option when you subscribe
Rithmic has not gone away at Earn2Trade. The firm still publishes Rithmic connection guides for Bookmap, MultiCharts, ATAS, Quantower, MotiveWave, Jigsaw and others. It simply no longer supplies a NinjaTrader license with the Rithmic option. If you want NinjaTrader included, the NinjaTrader-Tradovate option is the one to pick at checkout; picking Rithmic works with NinjaTrader only if you already own a NinjaTrader license with a Rithmic integration.
Find your Tradovate credentials
They arrive in their own email. They are not your Earn2Trade website login, and they are not the credentials from any earlier Rithmic subscription you may have held.
If you subscribed between roughly 3:50pm and 5:00pm Central on a weekday, or over a weekend, Earn2Trade says the credentials may not work yet even though the email has arrived. Wait for the market to reopen before you decide something is broken.
Accept the exchange agreements in the Tradovate portal
Log into the Tradovate trader portal with the credentials from that email and work through the agreements. Select non-professional unless you genuinely need professional status and are willing to pay for it.
Earn2Trade puts this first for a reason: their instructions tell you to confirm the agreements are accepted and the documents signed before you try to connect. Do it before you open NinjaTrader.
Install NinjaTrader Desktop
Log into the NinjaTrader Account Dashboard with your Tradovate credentials and use the Download button in the bottom-left corner. That is what Earn2Trade’s own instructions tell you to do, and the desktop platform is what this connection needs.
Decide whether you need Multi-Provider
If Earn2Trade is the only thing you connect, you can skip Multi-Provider entirely. Launch NinjaTrader, enter the Tradovate username and password at the login prompt, and choose simulation when it asks which trading mode you want.
If you connect anything else as well, tick Multi-Provider in Tools, then Settings, then General, apply, and restart NinjaTrader. Without that restart the Configure option does not appear in the Connections menu at all.
Add the connection and set the account type
With Multi-Provider on, go to Control Center, then Connections, then Configure. Earn2Trade’s instructions tell you to find NinjaTrader in the list of connection types and double-click it. That is the unified NinjaTrader-Tradovate entry, and it is the one to use even though your credentials are Tradovate credentials; on some builds the same connection is still labelled Tradovate. Enter the username and password, then set Account Type to Simulation for your evaluation.
Type the credentials rather than pasting them. A trailing space picked up from the email is a common cause of a logon that fails for no visible reason.
Select your connection
Connections, then the entry you just made. Rename it Earn2Trade first if you run more than one firm, or you will lose track of which is which.
If it will not connect
- Logon failed straight away. Check the agreements are signed in the Tradovate portal, then check for a trailing space in the username or password. If you subscribed outside market hours, the credentials may simply not be live yet.
- Logon failed: No accounts were found for this account type. Check which account type you picked, since NinjaTrader refuses the logon when it does not match, then check your account status with Earn2Trade. See no accounts were found.
- Charts are blank or show no data. That is the market-data side. Unsigned exchange agreements in the Tradovate portal are the usual cause. See connected but no data.
- The SuperDOM is blank but charts are fine. Order-flow entitlement is separate from market data, so signing the data agreements will not fix this one. Take it to Earn2Trade rather than re-running the agreement steps.
- No Configure option. Multi-Provider is off, or you did not restart after ticking it. See why Configure is missing.
- Nothing connects at all. Check whether antivirus or firewall software is blocking NinjaTrader before you go back to Earn2Trade.
Earn2Trade and NinjaTrader: questions we get
Can I run Earn2Trade next to another prop firm?
Yes. Tradovate does not limit you to one connection at a time, so this needs no add-on and no workaround. That is worth saying plainly, because the one-connection-at-a-time restriction people run into is a NinjaTrader restriction on Rithmic connections, and it does not apply here. If your second firm is on Rithmic, that side may still be constrained.
What changes when I get funded?
More than at most firms. Earn2Trade’s team creates the live account and issues you fresh live trading credentials, so the ones you finish on are not the ones you evaluated with. NinjaTrader connects directly to the live account — the leader-follower copying Earn2Trade used to run is no longer used — and live trading needs NinjaTrader Desktop, those live credentials and an active market data subscription. Professional market data is not enabled by default; it is arranged and paid through the Earn2Trade team.
The login mode is the one thing to check rather than assume. Earn2Trade’s live-access article tells you to select Live Trading after logging in, which is not the Simulated setting you used during the evaluation. Follow the instructions that arrive with your live credentials, and ask Earn2Trade if the two do not agree.
Do I need a trade copier as well?
Only if you want one order to reach several accounts at once. Holding the connections open together is what makes copying possible; the copying itself is a separate job, handled by the trade copier. It matters more here than at most firms, because Earn2Trade no longer runs the leader-follower system it used to.
