How to Connect PropShopTrader to NinjaTrader (Rithmic)

How to Connect PropShopTrader to NinjaTrader (Rithmic)

PropShopTrader moved every existing account to Tickblaze on April 23, 2026, and since September 7, 2026 new accounts choose Tickblaze or Rithmic at purchase. Only a Rithmic-platform account comes with credentials that drive a Rithmic front end. But NinjaTrader is not one of the platforms PropShopTrader documents. Their supported-platforms page carries connection guides for Tickblaze, Quantower, MultiCharts, Rithmic’s own R|Trader Pro, ATAS, Sierra Chart, Bookmap, MotiveWave and Agena Trader. NinjaTrader is on none of them, and there is no PropShopTrader NinjaTrader guide in their help centre. What their own compatibility FAQ does say is that you may use any Rithmic-supported platform, and that only the Rithmic and Tickblaze licenses come with your purchase. Where people stop is the System list, because there is no entry named PropShopTrader in it. Their own guides use a System named PropShopTrader, which NinjaTrader does not ship, so the stock entry below is the thing to try first.

What you need before you start

  • The Rithmic username and password PropShopTrader issued you. They are emailed alongside your connection guide once the account is activated, which happens after KYC clears through Veriff and you have signed the Gladiator Agreement sent by PandaDoc.
  • Rithmic’s R|Trader Pro, version 17.42.0.0 or higher. PropShopTrader names that minimum, and their setup expects it to stay running. It is Windows-only, and it does not run under Windows S Mode.
  • An account in good standing. PropShopTrader tie Rithmic access to having an active account on your profile; a breached account has access suspended until you reset.
  • NinjaTrader Desktop on Windows, and whatever NinjaTrader license your own setup needs. PropShopTrader will not supply one — their own FAQ says only the Rithmic and Tickblaze licenses are included in your purchase, and they do not document NinjaTrader at all.
  • A Level 2 subscription, if you want a working DOM. PropShopTrader include Level 1 only.

Connecting PropShopTrader to NinjaTrader

Check the System entry exists before anything else

NinjaTrader populates its own Rithmic System list, and it does not contain every Rithmic firm. There is no entry named PropShopTrader in it. That is not the dead end it looks like, because a Rithmic firm does not need its own named entry — it needs one that reaches its gateway.

PropShopTrader’s own guides use a System named PropShopTrader, which stock NinjaTrader does not list. The stock Rithmic Paper Trading (Chicago) entry has connected PropShopTrader logins in our own testing and needs nothing added. Try that one first, picking the region nearest you if you are outside North America.

If PropShopTrader have told you to use their own named system rather than the shared gateway, stock NinjaTrader has no way to add that entry, because its System list is fixed. Unlimited Prop Firm Connections fills them in for you in one click.

Everything below assumes you found the entry.

Sign the two Rithmic agreements in R|Trader Pro

Do this in R|Trader Pro, not in NinjaTrader, and do it before you try to connect anything. On your first login Rithmic presents a Data Subscription Agreement and a Market Data Self-Certification. The self-certification asks you to classify yourself as Non-Professional or Professional, and you make that choice yourself — PropShopTrader say plainly that neither they nor Rithmic assign it for you.

Non-Professional covers trading your own money with no financial license and no job at a financial firm. Declaring Professional puts your account on hold until the exchange data fees are settled, so read it rather than clicking through.

Set up R|Trader Pro, and leave it running

Set the System to PropShopTrader and the Gateway to Chicago Area, or whichever is nearest you. Orders on, Market Data on using the same credentials, Selective Load off, and Allow Plugins on.

PropShopTrader are explicit that R|Trader Pro must remain open the entire time you are trading, and that every platform sharing the connection has to be running on the same computer. This is not a firm where you close R|Trader Pro once the connection is up.

Enable Multi-Provider

Tools, then Settings, then General. Tick Multi-Provider, apply, and restart NinjaTrader. Without it, Configure does not appear in the Connections menu at all.

Add the Rithmic connection

Control Center, Connections, Configure. Select Rithmic for NinjaTrader Brokerage and click add. Rename it PropShopTrader so you can tell it apart later.

Enter your credentials and choose the System

Type the username and password rather than pasting them — a trailing space carried along with a copied credential is the commonest cause of a rejected logon. Set the System to Rithmic Paper Trading (Chicago) — or to the PropShopTrader entry if you had it added — and use the same gateway you chose in R|Trader Pro.

Tick Plug-in mode (for use with R|Trader) so NinjaTrader shares the session R|Trader Pro is already holding, rather than opening a second one. That is the same arrangement PropShopTrader insist on elsewhere: launch R|Trader Pro first, enable Allow Plugins there, and only then connect. Restart NinjaTrader after saving — connection settings do not take effect until you do.

Select your new connection

Connections, then PropShopTrader.

If it will not connect

Check the clock first. Rithmic resets daily between 5pm and 6pm Eastern, and weekly from Friday 5pm through to Sunday 6pm Eastern. PropShopTrader list both windows, and logons simply fail inside them.

  • No PropShopTrader in the System list. NinjaTrader does not ship a PropShopTrader entry, so this is expected. Use Rithmic Paper Trading (Chicago), or add the PropShopTrader entry with Unlimited Prop Firm Connections.
  • Logon failed. A trailing space on a pasted credential, or the wrong System entry. Worked through in Rithmic logon failed.
  • Logged in, but charts stay empty. One of the two Rithmic agreements is still unsigned. Go back into R|Trader Pro and complete them — PropShopTrader’s own login-troubleshooting note tells you to check this.
  • Connected, but no accounts. Usually account status at PropShopTrader rather than anything in NinjaTrader; they suspend Rithmic access when no account on the profile is active. See no accounts were found.
  • No Configure option. Multi-Provider is switched off. See why Configure is missing.
  • Connects, then drops. Something else is holding a Rithmic session — R|Trader Pro on another machine, or a VPS. See session count exceeded.
  • Prices move but the DOM is empty. Level 1 comes with your PropShopTrader account; Level 2 market depth is a separate Rithmic subscription, valid for the current calendar month only and repurchased at the start of each month. See connected but no data.
  • Trades do not show up in R|Trader Pro. PropShopTrader’s own answer is that they went to a simulation account instead of the account tied to your profile, or plug-in mode is off at one end. NinjaTrader’s Sim101 is very easy to leave selected.

PropShopTrader and NinjaTrader: questions we get

Can I run PropShopTrader next to another prop firm?

Not on the Rithmic route, not out of the box. NinjaTrader holds one Rithmic connection at a time, so it refuses a second Rithmic firm’s connection while the first one is running. Unlimited Prop Firm Connections lets you keep several connected at the same time. A Rithmic session cap still applies per login on top of that, and no add-on can raise that one.

PropShopTrader add a wrinkle: they require every platform sharing their connection to run on the same computer, so moving the second firm to another box is no way round it. And if what you actually want is one order reaching several accounts, that is a separate job, handled by the trade copier.

Is PropShopTrader still issuing new accounts?

Yes. After an August 2026 pause, the firm sells new Pro, Flex and Direct accounts from $25K to $150K through a new dashboard, with Tickblaze or Rithmic chosen at purchase. Accounts bought before August 18, 2026 are legacy accounts, supported only through September 30, 2026. The firm has not published a setup guide for the new Rithmic accounts, so their System name is not public yet. Check with PropShopTrader before you assume this guide still applies to a brand new account.

Which username does NinjaTrader actually want?

The Rithmic pair PropShopTrader issued you, the one that arrived with your connection guide by email. Their own documents make this harder than it needs to be: one page calls it your PropShopTrader username and password, another calls it the username provided by PropShopTrader, and traders reasonably read the first of those as their website login. If the credentials you are holding are rejected, ask support to reissue your Rithmic credentials rather than resetting anything on the website.
