How Do You Reset Frozen Orders in NinjaTrader?

This article walks you through how to clear frozen or stuck orders on your NinjaTrader chart, typically seen in simulated accounts.

Frozen orders can sometimes appear when using simulated accounts in NinjaTrader. These will typically show up as yellow orders that are unclickable. This issue does not affect live trading accounts. If you’re seeing orders stuck on your chart that won’t go away, there are two primary methods to clear them.

Method 1: Reset the Simulated Account

  1. In the NinjaTrader Control Center, go to the Accounts tab.

  2. Select the simulated account with the frozen orders.

  3. Right-click on the account and choose Edit Account…

  4. In the Properties section, click Reset.

  5. Ensure Clear History is checked, then confirm by clicking Yes.

  6. The NinjaTrader 8 platform may appear unresponsive during this process—wait patiently, and it will complete the reset.

This method clears all order and performance history for the simulated account.

Method 2: Remove Frozen Orders Without Clearing History

  1. In the Control Center, go to Tools > Database Management.

  2. In the Database Management window, check the option for Reset DB.

  3. Make sure only Historical Orders is selected.

  4. Click the Reset button.

This method removes frozen orders while preserving your performance history.

By using either of these methods, you can effectively remove frozen simulated orders and keep your chart clean and functional.
